Early in my career I wrote the control software for a robotic archive system. My changes alone took it from days between failures to decades between failures. When other parts of the machine failed, the report still came back as a bug in my code — so I learned to trace each fault to where it actually lived and hand the responsible engineer something specific to fix.
I've done the same with water chemistry, patent claims, and financial models. I don't take a problem at face value. I take the time to understand the system it sits in, because that is where the solutions turn out to be.
